Vacheron Constantin Chronometre Royal 1907![]() The Vacheron Constantin Chronometre Royal represents the iconic model really emblematic for the brand. This year Vacheron Constantin has created the Chronometre Royal 1907 to join its 'Historiques' line. The superlative creation is destined for collectors who appreciate traditional craftsmanship techniques and signature timepieces that have left their trace in the history of watchmaking. The Chronometre Royal 1907 has been produced in a limited series of 100 pieces for the 2007 centenary year. The classically elegant 18K pink gold case, 39 mm in diameter, is developed with a gentle satin-brushed case-band and a spherical crown. The case is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal and 30-meter water-resistant. The transparent back of the case allows everyone interested to rest one's eyes upon the immaculate finish of the newly developed Calibre 2460 SCC manufactured by Vacheron Constantin. The Chronometre Royal 1907 sports a narrow bezel. The exceptional dial designed in the spirit of the original model and while applying the traditional techniques is crafted in white Grand Feu enamel on an 18K white gold base. Among the painted Arabic numerals, the figure 12 is distinguished by its rich shade of burgundy. Following the steps of the original model, an external outer minute circle adds the finishing touch to the dial. The pear-like 18K yellow gold hands remind the ones featured by the first Chronometre Royal introduced by the brand. The exquisite art of Grand Feu enameling is demonstrated in the most majestic way by the Chronometre Royal 1907. Enamel, an extremely stable material appreciated for its durability and resistance to oxidation, provides the dial of the watch with matchless depth and luminosity. Only a few specialists are able to boast today of enamel-working of such superlative quality. The dial of every timepiece is completely hand-crafted using traditional processes and sports a range of tiny details. To produce one single dial requires 5-7 firings in the oven at temperatures reaching almost 800 Degrees C for achieving an optimal effect. To keep the enameled dial away from any risk of buckling during the heating, it is strengthened by a enamel backing layer on the lower face. The Vacheron Constantin Chronometre Royal 1907 watch is driven by a new mechanical movement crowned by a rare double certification - the Hallmark of Geneva, and the prestigious COSC chronometer-certification. The Manufacture Vacheron Constantin has designed, developed and manufactured the mechanical self-winding Calibre 2460 SCC completely independently. The movement is fitted with a stop seconds device that allows the wearer to stop the timepiece completely and adjust it to the nearest second. Calibre 2460 SCC is beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 43-hour power reserve. The mechanism drives central hour, minute and seconds hands. Having incorporated ceramic ball-bearings applied in the rotation of the oscillating weight, the mechanism does not need any lubrication for the bearings. Calibre 2460 SCC also reveals the meticulous beveling work on its bridges with the Cotes de Geneve motif decoration, and the circular graining on the main-plate. Providing perfect visibility of the decorations, the 22K gold oscillating weight of the movement is delicately open-worked. The oscillating weight has been specially developed for the timepiece and provided with 'Chronometre Royal' engraving above the 'Vacheron Constantin Geneve' inscription. |
